Product factory machines and devices for measuring mechanical quantities

Mitutoyo's philosophy at that time was to make high-quality micrometers, but also to produce them in quantities that made them affordable and available to all of manufacturing. This philosophy was expanded in the next several decades to include a wider product offering focused on mechanical, dimensional gaging products, such as calipers , dial indicators , and other measuring tools. As electronic technology became more widespread in the s, Mitutoyo applied electronics to its line of dimensional gaging equipment to include electronic, or digital, measuring tools. During this time it also began to offer larger, more complex and more sensitive measuring instruments, including optical comparators , form measuring equipment, and coordinate measuring machines CMMs. As statistical process control SPC was introduced, Mitutoyo led the world in the development of output gages, interfaces, data collectors and analysis software to take advantage of this new metrological science.

How to Calculate Overall Equipment Effectiveness: A Practical Guide

Production system , any of the methods used in industry to create goods and services from various resources. The transformation process typically uses common resources such as labour, capital for machinery and equipment, materials, etc. When viewed as a process, a production system may be further characterized by flows channels of movement in the process: both the physical flow of materials, work in the intermediate stages of manufacture work in process , and finished goods; and the flow of information and the inevitable paperwork that carry and accompany the physical flow.

The management of information flows, or the planning and control of the system to achieve acceptable outputs, is an important task of the production manager. While the capacity of the system is the major factor in determining whether output expectations can be met, the additional consideration of quality must also be seen as a limiting factor.

The quality of a product, measured against some objective standard, includes appearance, performance characteristics, durability, serviceability, and other physical characteristics; timeliness of delivery; cost; appropriateness of documentation and supporting materials; and so on. It is an important part of the definition of a system. There are three common types of basic production systems: the batch system , the continuous system, and the project system.

In the batch system, general-purpose equipment and methods are used to produce small quantities of output goods or services with specifications that vary greatly from one batch to the next. A given quantity of a product is moved as a batch through one or more steps, and the total volume emerges simultaneously at the end of the production cycle. Examples include systems for producing specialized machine tools or heavy-duty construction equipment, specialty chemicals, and processed food products, or, in the service sector, the system for processing claims in a large insurance company.

Batch production systems are often referred to as job shops. In the continuous system , items to be processed flow through a series of steps, or operations, that are common to most other products being processed. Since large volumes of throughput are expected, specially designed equipment and methods are often used so that lower production costs can be achieved.

Frequently the tasks handled by workers are divided into relatively small segments that can be quickly mastered and efficiently performed. Examples include systems for assembling automobile engines and automobiles themselves, as well as other consumer products such as televisions, washing machines, and personal computers.

Continuous production systems are often referred to as assembly systems or assembly line systems and, as noted below, are common in mass production operations.

The two types of systems mentioned thus far are often found in combination. In the production of integrated circuits for electronic equipment, for example, thousands of circuits are processed as a batch on several large slices of silicon crystal through dozens, or even hundreds, of processing steps. The tiny circuits, each only a few millimetres on a side, are then separated and individually assembled with other circuit elements on a continuous line to produce the final product.

For a single, one-of-a-kind product, for example, a building, a ship, or the prototype of a product such as an airplane or a large computer, resources are brought together only once. Because of the singular nature of project systems, special methods of management have been developed to contain the costs of production within reasonable levels.

Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)

OEE takes into account the various sub components of the manufacturing process — Availability, Performance and Quality. After the various factors are taken into account the result is expressed as a percentage. This percentage can be viewed as a snapshot of the current production efficiency for a machine, line or cell. Manufacturing a product is a complex process.

Quality control inspectors examine products and materials for defects or deviations from specifications. Quality control inspectors, for example, ensure that the food or medicine you take will not make you sick, that your car will run properly, and that your pants will not split the first time you wear them. These workers monitor quality standards for nearly all manufactured products, including foods, textiles, clothing, glassware, motor vehicles, electronic components, computers, and structural steel.

Food processing equipment is an umbrella term referring to the components, processing machines , and systems used to handle, prepare, cook, store, and package food and food products. Although this equipment is primarily aimed toward the transformation—i. Employed for food and food product applications ranging from bakery goods to beverages and dairy to produce, a wide range of food processing equipment is available to execute the various unit operations necessary during a complete production cycle, such as washing, separating, mixing, baking, freezing, and sealing.

Overview of Food Processing Equipment

Mass production , application of the principles of specialization, division of labour , and standardization of parts to the manufacture of goods. Such manufacturing processes attain high rates of output at low unit cost, with lower costs expected as volume rises. Mass production methods are based on two general principles: 1 the division and specialization of human labour and 2 the use of tools, machinery, and other equipment, usually automated, in the production of standard, interchangeable parts and products. The use of modern methods of mass production has brought such improvements in the cost, quality, quantity, and variety of goods available that the largest global population in history is now sustained at the highest general standard of living. The principle of the division of labour and the resulting specialization of skills can be found in many human activities, and there are records of its application to manufacturing in ancient Greece. The first unmistakable examples of manufacturing operations carefully designed to reduce production costs by specialized labour and the use of machines appeared in the 18th century in England. The last three inventions improved the speed and quality of thread-spinning operations. A sixth invention, the steam engine , perfected by James Watt , was the key to further rapid development. After making major improvements in steam engine design in , Watt continued his development and refinement of the engine until, in , he successfully used one in a cotton mill.

Mass production , also known as flow production or continuous production, is the production of large amounts of standardized products, including and especially on assembly lines. Together with job production and batch production , it is one of the three main production methods. The New York Times used the term in the title of an article that appeared before publication of the Britannica article.

Corporate executives and consumers have in recent years adopted divergent views of product quality. Several recent surveys indicate how wide the quality perception gap is:. Mindful of this gap, many U. Such efforts are evident in two trends. The first is the greater emphasis advertisements place on the word quality and on such themes as reliability, durability, and workmanship. The second trend is the move to quality assurance and extended service programs.

There is a lot of confusion out there about OEE Operational Equipment Effectiveness and about the words efficiency and effectiveness. Let us look at these things in an objective and clear manner. Is OEE just a nice-to-have? No, it is a simple yet powerful roadmap that helps production floor people and management to visualize and eliminate equipment losses and waste.

Первый - с личного терминала коммандера, запертого в его кабинете, и он, конечно, исключался. Второй - с помощью ручного выключателя, расположенного в одном из ярусов под помещением шифровалки.
